The Roadstar is Yamaha's original heavy weight cruiser and packs a mean punch with its 1700cc motor. The low 28" seat height helps one adjust to the bike's 735 pound weight. It is carburated, and the stock bike has 75 horsepower, and 82 foot pounds of torque. Luke customized his, by adding after-market exhaust pipes, a big-air kit, and porting the manifold. Other mods included: handlebar risers with an additional 2" of pull-back, and a Dragger Custom seat.
Luke sold his '04 Yamaha Roadstar and his man-cave trailer to buy the truck we would need for our Alaskan quest; but not before a very memorable weekend getaway in Shenandoah. We also used his iron steed on some of our dates. Mainly though, it was the way to restore his internal man balance. Many a night after Rebekah would come home from work, Luke would head out, challenging thunder-storms, maintaining an uneasy truce with deer, and dodging the watchful eyes of the law on the twisting country roads surrounding Richmond.
